side stories

A collection of side stories told from the alternate perspectives, though with a little less editorial rigor than my books. :P

Side Story #1

Determination

After Evan and Oliver arranged a study session with Katie, she’s sick that morning and is forced to cancel. While she calls in reinforcements in the form of Sarah and Hana, she reflects on her past with Evan and recalls their early childhood, beginning shortly after he moved to Riverview and culminating in the decision to finally confess her feelings to the idiot boy who’s been too stupid to recognize her feelings, even after all these years.

Side Story #2

Overwhelmed

Ellie awakens in the middle of a dark, and secluded part of the park with Evan no where in sight. Fear and panic begin to set in when she sees a woman made of stars descends from above to somewhere close by. Following the oddity, she’s shocked to discover her brother unconscious next to Hana, who is being visited by the magical woman. When the truth is revealed, Ellie is faced an impossible decision, and an unbearable secret.

Side Story #3

What a Dumbass

While her perfect twin sister lives out her fantasy life of a normal high school existence, with friends and even a burgeoning romance, Mara spends her time exploring her powers in the realm of dream. Flexing her powers and having a bit of fun, she’s surprised to discover an immense amount of turmoil coming from her very house. When she discovers that her sister’s perfect little world is falling apart, is there anything she can do to help?

Authors Note:

In one of my favorite Japanese light novel series, Ascendance of a Bookworm, the author (Miya Kazuki) includes side stories from other characters perspectives in the prologue and as a series of epilogue chapters. She even has entire books as a collection of side stories. I really enjoy seeing the alternative perspective and insights into the lives of people other than the main cast. I thought it would be fun to do the same, so I have. These were a lot of fun to write, and I can easily see myself writing additional side stories in the future.

I do want to warn you, however, that these stories have gone through a minimum amount of editing and beta reading, so they aren’t as polished as my published works. Still, I’m proud of them and if you enjoyed my book, you’ll enjoy these too.
